For women of all ages, gynecology providers monitor, evaluate, and treat both acute and chronic conditions of the reproductive system and genitourinary tract.
Common conditions treated include:
- Cancer screening for breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterus
- Menstrual problems, including missing, painful, or prolonged menstrual periods and premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
- Sexually-transmitted infections such as HPV, gonorrhea, and syphilis
- Ovarian cysts
- Uterine fibroids
- Endometriosis
- Urinary tract and vaginal infections
- Symptoms of menopause
Surgeries performed by Gynecologists include:
- Hysterectomy
- Endometrial ablation for endometriosis and heavy periods
- Colposcopy, a detailed inspection of the cervix
- Ultrasound examinations
- Annual exams to include PAP smear and breast exam
- Loop electrosurgical excision procedures (LEEP) for tissue sampling
- Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) during and after menopause
- Medical and surgical treatment of urinary incontinence (such as pelvic floor therapy)
